Last August was our worst month of the year so it was not surprising I backed with plenty of
caution for August this time round! However, needn't have worried because it was a fairly smooth
journey throughout the month thanks to some nice priced winners and a good consistent level of
form.Even most of the system bets that failed to win at least ran respectably. You could argue if luck had totally gone our way we could have made a little more but equally you could say we should be thankful the
outrageous bad luck that dogged us last August was nowhere to be seen! For example this time
last year there is no way that photo finish involving Beauthea would have been a dead heat, we would
certainly have lost it, and between you and me, I don't really think we did hold on for a share of first place
do you??  Don't tell the Irish stewards though!
